It’s been a long time!

Wow, I haven’t written a blog on here since January, 2017, which makes me sad. There are so many treasured moments that you quickly forget, I wish I’d continued to document them on here. But oh well, better late than never!

Two years and and four has changed to five! Little Arabella is nine months already! Wow, not sure how that time passed so quickly! As of yesterday Arabella learnt to pull herself up to standing position and can now climb up the two steps in our living room, oh boy we’re in trouble!!! Caught her red handed in the pantry! IMG_0595.JPGThe boys of course find this hilarious! Darwin was trying to help her walk today, she hasn’t quite figured out how to move her feet, but I’m sure it won’t be long!IMG_0593

She was very keen this morning to help pick out her clothes, diva already!

The boys are almost done for summer. Hugo will be moving up to Kindergarten in September and it can’t come soon enough for him! Every day he comes home with a few pages of a book to read and instead he reads the whole book, it’s pretty impressive and a stark contrast from how his brother was! Hugo is hilarious, he says funny things all the time. He was talking about bald people the other day and asking why we don’t grow hair out of our forehead (valid question), he calls peoples bald patch their hair spots! We had a babysitter the other night who brought her boyfriend, Sean with her. Hugo woke up the next day and said ‘I really liked Shell, he was so fun”! Apparently he spent the evening running round saying ‘hallelujah’, Darwin pointed out that Hugo had no idea what it meant and said he knew that, but his friend says it all the time. Fair enough.

Darwin is also thriving this year, can’t believe it’ll be his last year at lower school in September. He is about to graduate book 1 of violin. Wow, it’s been an arduous battle, but he has stuck with it and progressed phenomenally, we are very proud of him.

Two weeks ago they did a Run for the Cows at our local farm. We had to be ready by 6:30am on a Sunday and it was raining ate and dogs. Usually Hugo would be very hesitant to participate without one of us, but off they both went and they both thoroughly enjoyed it and loved starting the morning that way. They both came home with big medals and a thirst to run even further next year.

It was American, Mothering Sunday last week. Darwin invited me to school for a special surprise where the class had learnt several songs, had baked us breakfast, planted us flowers and had written about fifteen pages on why their mummy was so special! It was an incredibly touching and special morning!
IMG_0417 I’m particularly fond of my book cover! He promises to turn it into a full length, super hero book!

On Mother’s Day it rained, again and we went, (Darwin reluctantly) for hibachi. Looks like he had a terrible time, right?!

We then spent the next two and half hours driving round our area taking pictures of local businesses for his A-Z Community project. Darwin would dash out in the rain, Daddy would snap a quick photo and run back to the car. We got all but X, fortunately we had no reason to visit the hospital. It’s almost Wednesday and Mummy still hasn’t gotten that shot. You know what I’m doing tomorrow!!

I Did It!

Mama, I did it!!! This is one of my favorite phrases that Huggie Bear says. Today it was extra special, because Hugo went to the big boy toilet for the first time, properly today!!! He did it! Not once,  but twice!

It’s been a week of firsts. The toilet, first day swimming in our pool this year (well, technically the hot tub, it’s been a little chilly), and Hugo got his big boy bed! The bed has proved to be a bit of a challenge. Apparently the transition from a king size bed into a single isn’t that enticing. Although, tonight was the first time Hugo didn’t put up a fight and has fallen asleep in his bed. Undoubtably, he’ll end up scampering into the spare room in the wee hours of the night. But hey, it’s progress!

Jigsaw King

Image

Jigsaws are Darwin’s favorite game to play! We empty the box out, you give him one piece of an animal and he finds the other pieces and we put them together. He’s really good at them and then when he’s finished playing he says goodbye to each animal and puts them back in the box!

The World of Darwin

ImageHi everyone, it’s been some time and I apologize for that. I’ve probably missed out on telling you a million new things that Darwin does now. I really want to get back into blogging, as even I forgot when he reached milestones!

So Darwin’s going to be 21 months next Tuesday, so crazy. My baby boy is growing into such an awesome little boy.

We have 12 teeth now. His teeth seem to come in fours and then he doesn’t get more for months, I think some are coming in at the moment.

He’s still as active as ever. He has a serious case of ants in his pants.

He is very loving, always giving us big hugs and kisses, he also likes to blow you kisses.

He is starting to speak really well, the other day he put four words together (can’t remember the sentence). When we climb up and down the stairs we count number and in the car he recites the alphabet and the days of the week after me. His favorite words are ‘no’, ‘mine’ and ‘hi’. He said ‘sorry mama’ to me yesterday when I was cross at him, I was no longer cross!

He still really loves animals. We visit the local animal farms all the time and he sits and feeds them. At home he loves to sit and look at his animal books and make animal noises.

His favorite thing to watch is Bolt the Disney, dog movie and the 1974 series of Spiderman. Although I think he likes Spiderman because Darwin and Daddy sit down together and watch it together!

He is getting such a good dancer, he’s got a lot of fantastic moves!

He walks down the street waving and saying hi to people. If he sees an animal he will run over and and starting waving and saying ‘hi’.

He’s still a pain with his food, although he’s gradually gaining weight. He seems to be going through a phase of only wanting to drink milk!

Anyway, just a quick Darwin update. We’re off to the park!

Hi, hi, hi!

Hello everyone! So far this year I’ve been pretty bad with my new years resolution of doing more blogs, sorry!

Darwin is doing brilliantly! He is now over his jet lag, his cold and is even getting his appetite back! Yippee!

Today we went to the zoo and Darwin loved it! He was really interested in all the animals and was saying ‘hi’ and waving to all of them. He would initially call them all lions, as he loves his big lion in his room. Every night after his bath, he runs up to Mr lion and gives him a big hug! But after we told him the name of each animal, he would repeat it and make the sound that the animal made. Especially ‘baa’, ‘moo’ and ‘raaar’!

Darwin’s vocabulary is expanding every day. He is saying ‘please’ (sounds more like peas), ‘thank you’, ‘hi’, ‘bye’, ‘up’, ‘lion’, ‘dog’, ‘bad’, ‘duck’, ‘banana’ (nana) and ‘bravo’! He calls for dada all day and mama whenever he is upset or wants something! Although he sometimes calls for mama and when I look, he blows me kisses! So adorable.

He found his shadow yesterday. It was very amusing, he was running around after his bath and noticed it. He started kicking his leg out the side and then trying to catch his shadow!

Darwin is now an expert on the slide. We help him walk up the steps and then walks round, positions himself and pushes himself down, we then catch him half way down. He loves sitting on the tyre swing with daddy and gives him really big hugs!

It was Winston’s birthday last Friday! We had a fun day playing in the garden. Darwin played fetch with him. Winston had a steak and bone for his tea and I made him a special dessert table, pictures to follow. He also had lots of cuddles.

Darwin still only has six teeth. We went to pediatric dentist a couple of weeks ago. Darwin had his six teeth cleaned and flossed! He did not enjoy it at all. But his teeth are great and he’s being a very good boy and letting me clean them well every night.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I’m so sorry there hasn’t been a blog for a considerable amount of time! New Year’s resolution, to write more blogs!!

So much has happened in the past month. One day after Darwin’s thirteen month birthday he took his first step! Amazingly without even trying to, Daddy caught the moment on the video recorder, which is just priceless! Darwin is now very sturdy on his feet and is scurrying round the house, keeping his parents on their toes!

His speech is coming on leaps and bounds. His favorite word is ‘duck’ and likes to call our dog a ‘bad boy’!

We had a fantastic Christmas at home, Daddy was off work for nearly two weeks, so we got to spend so much quality time together. We are very sad to say the least, that Daddy has to go back to work tomorrow. 😦 Darwin was thoroughly spoilt. So much so, that we were still opening presents at 6:00pm! Amongst his favorites are his London bus and his four foot giraffe and lion!

Yesterday Darwin started picking up a toy that he wanted us to help him play with and he would bring it to us, this was a first! Today he started playing ‘peek a boo’ with me by putting a scarf up to his face and pulling it down!

His favorite food at the moment is smoked salmon! A boy with expensive taste, naturally.

Darwin still only has the four teeth, no sign of any more.

Last weekend we went to a dinner party at a friends house, there were nine little boys under the age of five! It was crazy! Darwin behaved fantastically! He was happy playing by himself or just sitting watching the older boys, he even made stayed awake until 10:00pm without a single tear! He then let Mummy and Daddy lie in until 11:00am on New Year’s day, such a little angel!

Today we went to the Science Museum, which was a lot of fun. Darwin thoroughly enjoyed the simple experiments of how things worked. They had a planetarium, where we learnt about the stars, planets and human trips into space, Darwin really enjoyed it until he fell asleep!

Christmas photos to follow!

Let Them Eat Cake

20111108-202915.jpg Darwin got to have his birthday cake this evening! He was very excited by it and did lots of clapping! Again, he tried to get near the flame of the candle, so there wasn’t too much candle blowing out going on. I just made a chocolate cake with a blue, cream cheese filling, I’m saving his fancy cake for his birthday!

Luckily we were all feeling a bit better today!

Birthday pictures to follow.
